T-Epps Is Creating His Own Lane, One Song at a Time

Some artists discover music later in life. For T-Epps, it has always been a part of who he is.

Long before recording songs or stepping into the studio, music filled his home. His biggest inspiration has always been his mother, a gifted singer and musician who introduced him to music at an early age. She taught him how to sing, and those lessons sparked a passion that continues to shape his career today.

"As far back as I can remember, we were always playing music," T-Epps says. "Watching my mom perform and hearing the way she connected with music made me want to do the same."

His curiosity quickly grew beyond singing. He learned to play the keyboard and drums, spending years studying the greats from every era. He listened closely to legendary vocalists, musicians, and performers, paying attention to what made each of them timeless. Eventually, he added rap to his skill set and found a way to blend powerful vocals with honest lyricism.

That approach has become one of the things that separates him from other artists.

Instead of chasing trends, T-Epps believes in learning from the past while staying connected to the present. He studies the artists who came before him because they remind him to stay authentic. At the same time, he keeps up with today's sound so his music continues to evolve without losing its identity.

"I never want to stay in one lane," he says. "Every generation has something you can learn from. I want my music to reach different audiences while still sounding like me."

His influences stretch across decades. From the soul of the 1960s to the energy of today's music, T-Epps pulls inspiration from every era and puts his own signature on it. That willingness to experiment has allowed him to build a sound that feels familiar without ever sounding predictable.

Music became more than a hobby in 2009 when he decided to fully commit to his career. Since then, every release has been another step forward.

His journey has already produced several milestones. In 2007, he earned the title of National Choral Singer of the Year, an accomplishment that highlighted his vocal talent long before many people knew his name. He has also surpassed 20,000 combined streams across his three EPs and earned the 2022 Golden Mic Award for his project EV3, proving that his hard work continues to receive recognition.

Now, T-Epps is focused on what he believes is his strongest project yet.

His upcoming album, Eppsiloution, is scheduled for release later this year. The title reflects exactly where he is as an artist. It represents growth, maturity, and the willingness to keep pushing himself creatively.

The album is being engineered by Mark Wyman and produced alongside Isaac James, while T-Epps also takes on part of the production himself. On the visual side, Trysorolla is bringing the project to life through music videos that match the vision behind the album.

The only featured artist currently appearing on Eppsiloution is fellow hometown artist Trey Malik, making the collaboration even more meaningful.

No matter where his career takes him, T-Epps never forgets where he comes from. He proudly represents all three of his hometowns: Rantoul, Champaign, and Urbana, Illinois. Those communities helped shape the artist he has become, and he carries that pride into every performance and every record he makes.

As Eppsiloution gets closer to its release, T-Epps is focused on one thing above everything else. He wants to create music that lasts. Music that speaks to people, crosses genres, and stands the test of time.

With a foundation built on family, years of dedication, and a constant desire to grow, T-Epps is proving that evolution is more than an album title. It is the story of his career.
