T.I. is looking to put a years-long legal dispute behind him as he asks a federal judge to dismiss the final remaining claim in Sabrina Peterson's lawsuit against him.
The case dates back to 2021, when Peterson publicly accused the rapper of pointing a gun at her during an incident years earlier. Since then, several claims have been dismissed, leaving only an emotional distress allegation tied to an Instagram video posted by T.I. in July 2025.
In the video, the rapper shared a message encouraging people to avoid negativity and focus on their own lives. Peterson argued that the comments were directed at her and caused emotional harm.
Earlier this week, T.I.'s legal team filed a motion requesting that the court dismiss the remaining claim. His attorneys argued that the video never mentioned Peterson by name and that there is insufficient evidence to prove the post was intended to target or threaten her. They also maintained that the statements made in the video do not meet the legal threshold for emotional distress.
If the judge grants the motion, it could bring an end to one of the longest-running legal disputes surrounding the Atlanta rapper, allowing him to move forward as he prepares for his upcoming musical projects.
