Snoop Dogg has revealed that both he and the late Tupac Shakur will appear as characters in Sega’s upcoming action-adventure game, Stranger Than Heaven.
The announcement was made during the Summer Game Fest 2026 presentation, where Snoop Dogg introduced the project and discussed Tupac’s involvement. The rapper’s estate approved the use of his likeness, allowing developers to incorporate him into the game as a character named Amaru, a nod to Tupac’s middle name. The name also references the historical figure Tupac Amaru II, an 18th-century Peruvian revolutionary.
Speaking about the decision, Snoop explained that Tupac’s influence and legacy continue to resonate decades after his death, making his inclusion a natural fit for the project.
In addition to Tupac, Snoop Dogg will also appear in the game alongside his son, Cordell Broadus. The cast further includes actors Yu Shirota, Dean Fujioka, Moeka Hoshi, as well as singers Tori Kelly and Ado.
Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team behind the acclaimed Yakuza and Like a Dragon series, Stranger Than Heaven is described as a sweeping 50-year saga that spans multiple eras and locations across modern Japanese history, beginning in 1915.
The game is scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with day-one availability through Xbox Game Pass. Tupac’s role represents one of the most significant posthumous uses of the rapper’s likeness in a video game to date.
