Meek Mill has once again taken aim at DJ Akademiks, suggesting that the commentator's influence may have contributed to a significant drop in his music streams.
In a series of posts on X, Meek Mill theorized that negative coverage and online criticism associated with Akademiks and his platform helped damage his public image and ultimately affected his streaming numbers. The rapper claimed his streams fell dramatically in 2024—by as much as 90 percent—before eventually stabilizing.
The latest comments come amid renewed scrutiny surrounding individuals connected to the Akademiks media network. Recent discussions on social media have focused on allegations against George Nguyen, a figure associated with Akademiks TV, who has been accused by critics of engaging in targeted online attacks against Black artists. Nguyen has also faced criticism over his online alias, "Grand Wizard," a title historically associated with the Ku Klux Klan.
Meek referenced these controversies while questioning the influence of individuals connected to Akademiks' platform. He argued that organized negative narratives and online campaigns may have contributed to setbacks in his career and public perception.
The tension between Meek Mill and DJ Akademiks dates back nearly a decade. Their relationship deteriorated after public disagreements over coverage of Meek's career, and the two have frequently exchanged criticism ever since. While Meek believes those conflicts may have had a measurable impact on his streaming performance, no independent evidence has been presented establishing a direct link between Akademiks' commentary and the reported decline in streams.
