
The music industry is mourning the loss of Talay Riley, the acclaimed songwriter and artist who was reportedly killed in a stabbing incident in East London at the age of 35.
According to reports, Riley—whose birth name was Mark "Yinka" Orabiyi—was attacked alongside another man during the incident. While the second victim sustained injuries, authorities indicated that those injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police launched an investigation and arrested three men in connection with the case. Two of the individuals were later released without further action, while a third suspect was released on bail pending additional investigation.
Riley was widely respected within the music industry for his songwriting contributions to major artists, including H.E.R., Khalid, and Dua Lipa. Over the course of his career, he earned recognition as a Grammy-winning and multi-platinum songwriter, helping craft songs for some of the biggest names in contemporary music.
Following news of his death, tributes began pouring in from across the music community. His manager, Cleo Amedume, shared a statement honoring Riley's legacy, describing him as an exceptionally talented songwriter and artist whose impact on music will be remembered by those who worked with and knew him.
